"Change your settings to play"

I'm trying to play Sea of Thieves on my pc but it says "You can't play multiplayer games because of how your account is set up. Go to your privacy & online safety settings on Xbox.com to change this", but when i go to safety and privacy settings and it
tells me to select a gamer tag to edit settings on, there are no gamer tags where there should be. Why is this? And how can i fix it and edit my settings to play Sea of Thieves online?

Are you by any chance on parental settings? If so that might be your problem.

I'm having a very similar issue except every time I try to go to the settings it brings me back to the "family and privacy settings" page. I don't have a
parent account and I'm fairly certain that my account is not a child account. Though I'm trying to change settings to join realms on Minecraft. I've also been trying to fix this problem for
the better part of 2 hours and haven't gotten anywhere. I've been sending feedback, help requests, and now this comment so I hope to get answers soon.

I would suggest going to your Xbox account settings and check your account restrictions. some of these restrictions can stop you from playing multiplayer, joining parties, sending messages, ect.

Won't affect your download speed, but will affect your "ping"

You can change it easily enough, but it will slow your speeds down as all your traffic will be routed through the US instead.
