Change your Privacy settings for communication

Since update to Version 3.1610.1113 around 19th Nov I have been unable to send messages using the Xbox App on iOS

I get either

"Change your privacy settings for communication"

"You are not allowed to send messages to this group"

"The receipts may not exist, is not a friend, or we could not reach services"

I have deleted the app and also signed out and back in again

Being harassed and hateful and threatening messages sent to me.

May I also point out that if the block communications doesn't work for you, you do have the option to alter your account privacy settings. Privacy settings for both communications and online status can be changed to either 'Friends Only' or 'Blocked'. Once
the privacy settings are changed, random users will no longer be able to send messages to your accout.

Microsoft will not give you an account name change for free. If you still want to change your Gamertag, you will have to pay.

If it says that you need to change your privacy settings when you go into a party you were communication banned, and need to check for a message from Xbox Live reguarding your suspension. Changing your privacy settings wont actually work.

You need to sign out and change your clock to 24-hour. There is a bug with 12-hour clock

if this doesn't work... Sign out and change to 24hr then sign back in,

you may also need to turn off your "set automatic" you won't be able to send msg from iPhone xbox app..

I see, and when did this situation start happening?

Check that your privacy settings allow communication with everyone. Go to Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox Live privacy. Select View details & customize > Communication & multiplayer. From here you can change your privacy settings to allow communication with everyone.

If it's already configured correctly, change your privacy settings to block communication, then power cycle your Xbox: Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or on your controller.

Once it's turned back on, go back to the privacy settings and enable communication with everyone. Following these steps should 'refresh' your account's settings and solve any conflicts with the settings.

If it's still not working, check the in-game settings to ensure voice chat is enabled. Let me know if these steps help.

To change your privacy settings go to the Xbox dashboard then settings then go to privacy and you can change your settings. Also block communications and file a complaint to the people bothering you then a member from the enforcement team should review your
call within 24 hours. Good luck!
