Gifts are set up by region and will not be redeemable if it was purchased from a different region. Changing consoles region to another region falsely will not change the outcome. The only option would be to have the person that purchased the gift to attempt
to reverse the purchase of the gift as the code will not be able to be redeemed in a different region. Refund Webform

Hello again, unfortunately not, and as they commented above the service is not available, and if you change the region of your account, you will have to wait 90 days before you can make another change.

your new country is not supported by microsoft xbox live meaning no access, you would need to use your previous country but also the payment and address must match the previous country

word of warning, if you change region to another you cannot change to another for 3 months
