Change the microsoft account which a xbox account is linked to

you can't, the xbox account IS the microsoft account, they are intertwined with each other and cannot be seperated, you would need to create a new account.

the only option that could work is changing the primary email address for that Microsoft Account, (which now is based on the work/school account) but you still need to be able to login in to the Microsoft Account (Xbox Live Account)

The link you are using is only for the xbox 360 and will change the complete Microsoft Account

Thank you for the reply and the links, sadly I have found both Minecraft and PlayStation support to be absolutely useless so posting here was a last resort!
