Change my gamertag

I was wondering, I saw that it costs 10$ to change your gamer tag, but isn't there supposed to be a free change? I have never used it and it said nothing about it expiring. So is there one? Because I went to change my gamer tag, and it said its 10$, not
a free one. Thanks!

Thinking of changing my gamertag. HELP!!!

I have had the same embarrassing Gamertag since I was like 8 back in 2006. Now I finally am thinking of changing it to seem cooler or more "professional".
Some Ideas I have
-Atsrobadgr (I use this on a few websites)
-rainbowtanuki (I'm gay and I like Japanese racoon dogs)

That's all I have! I hate my current Gamertag and I don't want to use my real name and I don't want those names with X's and numbers and things that make it look weird.Click to expand...

Well, if you want something more professional, I don't think either fit the bill. Perhaps professional isn't what you meant. But out of the two Astrobadgr is the better name, IMO.

did you try on the xbox and if it said $10 then you have to pay it. you never change your gamertag

There is a free name change available, but only during the first 30 days of an account and only if you were give a randomly generated tag. If you chose your tag when you signed up, then you would not be given a free change.

Hi, im having the same problem, i've never changed my gamertag, i was considering a few months ago and i saw that was free of charge, but yesterday i tryed to change and i have to pay for it...as i said i have never changed my gamertag, i have tihs account
since 2011...

Smwutches is right only in the 30day period of making a xbox live gamertag is chargeable anything after 30days you have to pay

ok, but what is strange was a few months ago 3 i think, i was thinking of changing my gamertag and i saw it, it was free, and i never changed my gamertag in years...

Audi777S3, if you read what was written above your post you will see that you only get a free name change in the first 30 days after you create your account. Since yours was created a few months ago, you will have to pay to change it.

I'm trying to change my classic gamertag which is the one you see in games. My classic gamertag got changed and my Xbox One and Xbox App gamertag stayed the same (the Xbox One gamertag is the ones they added with the new gamertag system).

My Xbox One gamertag is different to my in-game gamertag and I want my classic gamertag to be changed. You can only change your classic gamertag on the Xbox One console, I have tried using the other ways and you can only change your Xbox Gamertag, not your
classic gamertag.

The reason I want to change my classic gamertag is that the classic gamertag can be fifteen characters and the Xbox One gamertag can only be 12 characters. If I use the other ways to change my gamertag it limits me to 12 characters and sets both my gamertags
to that.

On xbox.com it says my gamertag is what i changed it to. But on xbox it shows my changed gamertag in games, but when i go to my profile it shows my old gamertag and right under it it shows the gamertag i did change it to.

Hi there,

Yes, changing the gamertag again should be possible, als changing back to your previous Gamertag is possible, as long as your original Gamertag isn't already taken by somebody else.

Keep in mind each change will require a payment.
