    Hi,

    I want to activate parental control for my son, but the problem is that he has a profile and status within the games he plays (and an Xbox Live Gold membership) connected to the adult account I first created. If I give him a child account I am afraid he
    will loose all that? Can I transform my adult account into a Child account so he can keep his own profile and ranking, so that he does not loose anything (except full freedom to play unlimitedly...)???

    How to change Xbox LIVE online safety and privacy settings

    You are allowed change the online safety and privacy settings for any profile on your console.


    How to change your safety and privacy settings

    Steps to follow:

    • First, you have to go to the My Account page
    • You need to sing in to your Xbox LIVE account clicking Sing In at the upper-right corner of the page.
    • Go to Settings and Preferences and select Privacy and Online Settings.
    • Now change the settings.

    How to change your child’s safety and privacy settings

    Steps to follow:

    • First, you have to go to the My Account page
    • You need to sing in to your Xbox LIVE account clicking Sing In at the upper-right corner of the page.
    • Proceed to Settings and Privacy and press Child.

      Note: You’ll be asked for the parental Microsoft account in order to make changes to the child account’s safety settings.
    • Now change the settings.

    I want to change my account from a child account to an adult account but I forgot my adult account completely. How do I change my account from child to buy games and actually use it if I forgot my adult account?

    No. Adult accounts can not be made into child account. Only the other way around.

    If you make him a child account his progress will not be on the new account as nothing is transferrable between accounts.

    To verify, a child account can't change their birthday, but an adult account CAN change their birthday if they so wish. I CAN change the birthday that's associated with my account, I CAN'T change the birthday associated with my daughter's child account.

    Support is correct. It's not possible to change the age of an account once it has been created and change an adult account to a child account. In order to be able to use restrictions for him, you would have to create a brand new, child account for him and
    your account would be the parent account. Nothing can be transferred between accounts so he would have to start over.
    Are you sure you can't change the age of an account? I just went into my account on live.com, and went under personal info. I changed my age to the age of my child. When I hit "save", it prompted me that I first had to revoke consent for my child accounts.
    I didn't continue, but it appears that if I do revoke consent, then I will have successfully changed my age. Then I'd have my account with a child's age, and I could create a new account and make my old account a child of the new account...
