Change email account associated with xbox one account

When you change the email associated with your Microsoft account, it will not delete the original email or any of its other corresponding data. Changing the email simply means that the email address linked to your Microsoft account will be updated to the new one you provide.

The original email account will remain independent and unaffected by this change. It will no longer be associated with your Xbox account, but it will still exist as a separate email account with its own data and functionality.

Unfortunately, an Xbox profile/account is a Microsoft account itself. There's no way we can separate those two. All the data and game licenses & progress of his Xbox Profile are bound to that Microsoft account and they're not transferrable.

I am afraid that if you would like your son to use a different account, he has to start from scratch with a new account.

Technically transfers cannot be do but you can change the email address associated with a microsoft account.

In order to associate the gamertag with another account you will need to create a whole account with an email address and then do the following to associate the gamertag to that account. How

If you are just changing the email then it should not be a problem. My suggestion would be to use an email account that is not associated with either because you could run into a problem changing them with one being associated with another account already.
