    Change / Connect to other servers on xbox for Call of Duty


    Hello Gamers / XBOX,

    Got a quick question. I never owned a XBOX (Willing to buy one tomorrow mainly for Call of Duty).

    I am based in the Netherlands (Europe) and I was wondering if it is possible in a way to go to the US server instead of the EU. I know that you can make a US account but will it put me on the server of people who play Call of duty in the US? If not is there
    another way? Changing settings in a way?

    To clarify only for Call of Duty to get in the same lobby as people from the US whilst being from the EU ( We all know people from the USA are more fun lool)

    If this is possible I will buy an xbox asap

    call of duty DOES use servers, just not dedicated servers. why do you think it says "the call of duty servers are unavailable at this time. please try later" error message. the gamer connects to xbox live, then to a secondary connection namely the call of
    duty servers, then its peer 2 peer.

    If you decide to set your gamertag to US then odds are you will get online games with other US players. However, you should be aware that purchasing items from the US marketplace will cause problems. Some items you will be able to purchase with no issues
    but others will provide problems with downloading because you do not reside in that country.

    @onyx62is Thanks won't be buying anything from the store so that won't be a problem at all. Tried it with ps3 and keep getting the same people so good to know that you can change it with xbox. Seems like I'll be getting an xbox tomorrow thanks again

    XBox Says MW3 Server Is Currently Unavailable, but server shows as "Defcon 5" (doing fine) on here. What gives?!?!?

    I would just like to point something out that is missing in this thread, that being these 'servers' that keep being mentioned. There are servers for the Call of Duty games, but they aren't the sort of servers you're thinking of. These servers only store
    your game stats and multi-player data, they don't host games. There are no dedicated game servers for the Call of Duty series, hence there are no servers to fix.

    All multi-player games, on all of the COD series are hosted by other users. Xbox LIVE simply links players of similar connection and ping together. The 'server' is another Xbox user's Internet connection and console.

    As others have stated, there could be a number of reasons for your latency problems, but it's not Xbox LIVE or the Call of Duty games that is causing it.
