Change Adult account to Child Account without losing data, history, or acheivements

When I originally set up an account for my kid to play on his Xbox 360 and then on the Xbox one, I set it up like it was for me (an adult) and allowed him to play on it with full access like he was the adult. How do I now change him to a child account, and
will he still be able to keep all his history and data?

Changing adult account to child account

My 12 year old sons account is set up as adult - I need to change this to a child account without losing any of his xbox history as this would send him into meltdown.

How do I do this?

what should i do as an adult to let children buy games?

In order to create a child account xbox requires an adult account. Children under 13 are not allowed to create accounts without an adult account. Have the adult user purchase the game or change the parental controls.

You can't change an adult account to a child account. He would either need to continue using the account as is, or you would need to make him a new account that is a child account. If you start a new account it will be a brand new account. Nothing will transfer
over.

You can not change an adult account to a child account. Deleting the accounts will lose all data and purchases. If you have a Microsoft email (@live.com @hotmail.com @outlook.com) you can not change email as this will delete the account completely.

First question, are you using a child or an adult account.

I ask because if it's a child account, you can't change them without an adult account

Unfortunately the only way would be to create a new child account which would involve him losing progress on his games. Adult accounts cannot be changes to child accounts.
