Change account info (email) but do not have the password

i am trying to change an email address on the xbox account as the person who set it up has passed away and he created the account for his grandson. i dont want there info just a way to update the account to another email . i dont want to reset as we have spent a lot of money for upgrades etc for the games.

Tho change the email linked to an account it's necessary to have account access, there's no way to do it without having account access as that would be a violation to the account privacy

In order for someone to change your security info (the alternate account) they must have access to your account. You should change your password as recommended by the support team .

1) Sign in at http://account.live.com then choose Change Password.

I assume you have a problem getting the key code when asked since it linked to an alternate account you do not know.

To change the alternate account. Follow these steps

1) Sign in at http://account.live.com then choose Edit Security Info

[Click on the Overview tab --> Security Info]

2) Delete the alternative email address. (It will take 30 days for changes to occur)

3) Add a new alternative email

If non of the steps at the link below help you with your issue

You will need to contact support for the email address and see if they can assist you in changing the password from that end.

If you are unable to access the email/password then I'm afraid you'll have lost the DLC entirely because you do need that info in order to do the license transfer. Support does not keep passwords on file.

I have not requested to remove or add any info since my account was stolen

It was hacked into and i was locked out as they removed my email and phone number from the account

I recieve an error regarding my current password is invalid and rerouted to send an email to the email that took the account

I do not have any notifications telling me how long i have left which is the reason why i am frustrated, i do NOT get a sign in message with that text, i only get it when trying to manually change the info myself after recovering the password.
