Certain updates won’t automatically update?

I was wordering why certain updates didn’t download automatically. For example one day fortnite will download an update automatically but the next day it won’t? I do have fortnite installed on my Xbox so it doesn’t have anything to do with the home Xbox
thing. It’s also other games this does it for

Recently installed

I sometimes get game updates on my ready to install list that don’t automatically update. So I update them, but when I go to my recently installed under the queue tab. The update won’t be there? For example, I update YouTube. Update is finished therefor
I go to recently installed to get into it and it’s not there? Doesn’t this mean the update didn’t install or is it just a glitch

Xbox won’t load certain discs

Had my Xbox for about 3 years. Just tried to put assassins creed syndicate in to download, but won’t read the disc and makes a stopping and starting noise in the console. Did the same thing with my gta 5 disc. But then tried another game and it worked fine
and loaded the game up properly. Is there anyway of fixing this or will I have to get a console repair?

That is very odd. I haven’t seen an xbox update in a while. If you have automatic downloads on, it should download automatically if you are offline. If your wifi disconnects, it won’t automatically download.

According to what I've read it should do the update automatically if you use instant on mode.

Silent reboot after system updates and system update on demand now available.
If your console is in Instant On mode, the update will happen automatically and return to standby upon completion. This means you won’t need to power on your console after an update moving forward. If you want
to take future updates when available without waiting for your console to do it on its own, we’ve added this option under system settings and you’ll be able to use it next update. It will only show as available when there is an update to take.
