Centre channel low from Series X - downmixed L/R ?

Discus and support Centre channel low from Series X - downmixed L/R ? in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; Hi I have a Series X , LG C1, Denon AVR-X1600H and 7.1 speakers .     Hi

    I have a Series X , LG C1, Denon AVR-X1600H and 7.1 speakers . I've spent quite some time trying to solve this problem and wonder if anyone here has it or has resolved it if so

    Basically when gaming ONLY , the centre channel is only very low level . Its as if the Centre channel is being downmixed into L/R . Only ambient noise at low level comes out
    This happens on any setting - Dolby D, 7.1 Uncompressed . First of all I thought it was something to do with the usual flakiness of EARC/LG etc , so I connected
    the Series X direct to the Denon as opposed to EARC . Exactly the same .I dont think this was always the case - apparently there has been an update to the X audio settings recently, and the Denon AVR also had an update. I have only seen other post where someone had this issue . It really does seem to be an issue between the X / Denon . Like I say - the centre channel is working but only low level ambient noise comes out when gaming - but the dialogue is not missing - its downmixed to L/R. If I fire up a Blu Ray centre channel is fine. Note when navigating the dashboard , noises do come out of the centre. It is only when playing a game .

    Also note the receiver displays the correct flag - DD , Atmos etc . I've even gone as far as testing the same game between the consoles. My lad has a copy of Avengers on PS5. That works fine . Same game on X, no proper centre . It really seems to be the X doing something it shouldnt

    Anyone else having this issue? If anyone has experienced this please let me know

    Sorry to clarify - this is only when playing games . Connection is made via HDMI to the AVR , or using EARC to the to AVR . Happens both ways
    Both my lg C1 and AVR are capable of handling all formats (bar DTX for the LG) and do so correctly with all my other devices (PS5, Nvidia shield)
    The issue is the X seems to be down mixing the Centre channel into L/R - and it really shouldn't . If I play - for example - Avengers game (have copy for each X and PS5) - the centre channel is mapped correctly from PS5 , but not so when using X .
    The issue is clearly the X or a compatibility issue with my AVR .Unlikely to be the AVR as it is handling the the other devices without issue

    I don't know how you encoded the videos, but the Xbox 360 only supports MPEG4 and AAC 2 channel stereo. 6 Channel AAC surround is not supported.

    The issue is your tv is unable to decode the 5.1 over HDMI. There are 5 channels of audio plus 1 channel for subwoofer they go in this order (Left, right, center, Surround Left, Surround Right). Since your TV is only stereo it's only playing channels 1 and
    2, left and right, and commentary is obviously on channel 3 center. Some TV can Downmix, where they take all 5 channels and mix them into 2 stereo channels.

    What I would do is set the HDMI back to Stereo so you get the correct 2 channels of audio(the Xbox does the downmix) and then since you are using optical to your surround sound system, set optical to Bitstream and DD 5.1 or DTS is your system supports it.

    one odd thing I noticed,after the last update the sound got worse,to start with when playing x box music in DTS i would get sound from centre channel,not now....only things that I get a centre channel sound from is netflix, dvd and blu ray......,games,music,now
    tv,blinkbox etc,no damn centre channel. I now only use stereo pcm out as my amp converts it to dolby digital and I get centre channel sound. Microsoft seem to have screwed things up by having the tv option,bet without that the sound issues would be fine....who
    the hell needs to run their cable box through it anyway......most HD TV signals are only 1080i, console doesnt output that so your picture will be degraded to 720p anyway, can't see it upscaling to 1080p

    Voltron, are you now getting full 5.1? my rear speakers are working in 5.1 but seem to only be replicating the front L and R channels, and as I say the center channel aint working properly (if at all?)
