Centre button turn on console but does not allow me to open menus

I am having problems with my XBOX One controller.

The Centre button does not work once I am on the XBOX. It works to turn the XBOX on, but then does not work for anything else. i.e. I cannot double tap it to open any menus

I also have a problem with this controller. In my case the home button dose not work properly. It will turn on the console and turn off the controller when held down but that is all. The home button dose not take me home or poll up any menus.

 

Menu glitches on shutdown

Hi. Everytime in try to close my Xbox down the cursor moves up and down and doesn't allow me to select turn off console. It can also do it on sub menus when I'm trying to join party etc. I have to turn off manually. Tried a cache reset but not worked. Any
ideas? Thx

 

Hi can you please try and carry out a hard reset to the console and hopefully this will resolve your issue.

To hard reset the console please press and hold the Xbox logo on the front of the console for 5-10 seconds once the console has shut down and the light on the power brick changed to orange restart the console and hopefully everything should be okay afterwards.

 

Hey, Hercules! If that doesn't work for you, I suggest turning off the contrast features in the Accessibility menu. To get to Settings, you will need to go through My Games & Apps.

The steps you will want to take are:

• My Games & Apps
• Settings
• Ease of Access
• High Contrast
• Turn High Contrast off

That should let you use the Xbox button in the center to open the Guide again. Let me know how that works for you!

 

do a console cache clear press and hold the power button for 10 seconds or until it shuts off then turn it back on with your controller. I had the same problem then i did this and it worked.

 

Hey Hercules. Here's some things you can try to see if it fixes the issue:

1. Make sure that your console is connected to the wall outlet instead of the power strip. The Xbox One has a surge protector in the power supply, so having it plugged into a power strip could cause the console to not perform very well because it's not receiving
enough power.

2. Check to see if there are any firmware updates for your controller. Depending on what controller you have, you may need to plug your controller into the console via micro-USB cable.

3. Clear the local saves on your console. It won't permanently delete your save files for your games since your save games are automatically stored onto cloud storage.

4. If all else fails, perform a factory reset. As long as you know the email address as well as the password to your account, you can be able to retrieve all your information.
