No, this is just a rumor, we certainly give you all the benefits of buying, or earning game pass. The ending time or expiration on those gift cards is when this subscription will end, then after you must renew it if you want to keep the benefits.

What 8 digit code is it giving you? Have you tried to enter the code on both the console and the website?

Is there notification of a possible expiration date on the code cards?

I think subscription payments are not refundable. you can still try contacting support though, but I would keep my expectations about a refund on the lower end.

I have been in similar circumstances (not with xbox, but other online subscriptions). So, let's say your card expired, and then, you got the card activated. Then, since the card details themselves never changed (or the bank that issued the card never changed), the company (Xbox, or another service provider) is able to simply ask the bank to carry over the charges. I have seen this happen a lot.

Plenty of times, my services continue to work, even after my card has expired, and then, charges automatically get passed over to the new card.

So, there is that.
