    Hey, not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I was just wondering if Microsoft was thinking of adding CD Ripping to the hard-drive. I have a lot of CDs I'd love to listen to while I play games. If I didn't see an answer to this somewhere else,
    sorry, I was browsing around, couldn't find much info on it. Thanks!

    Why Does It Take So Long For My Xbox 360 To Start Ripping A CD?

    Sounds like a drive problem. Are you able to play games with ease? Or is it just the CD ripping? Also, what kind of CD are you ripping? How big is each song? I know ripping CDs take quite a while sometimes, a whole CD for me can take a while, maybe 15 minutes,
    but it does sound weird that it takes that long for one song.

    Unfortunately, people like us who own a lot of CD's seem to be a minority on here. Yes, I'd like it a lot, will they make hit happen? Dunno. Your best to go to the user voice site and vote for it.

    why not rip them to your PC and stream to your XB with Play To.. just note we do not have background music yet.. so the music player will need to be snapped

    I game all my music on a flash drive plugged into the side port. SanDisk 16Gb 2.0. Works great and don't have to fill my drive.

    Yeah, I use a flash drive at the min. I just prefer to have all my music installed on the xbox, don't like to stream because it never seems to be a flawless experience like playing the music from the actual xbox. Kind of the same with the flash drive, it
    works of 99% of the time, you do get the odd occasion where it'll stop playing though. Playing music direct from the OG xbox and 360 always worked flawlessly for me.

    I can't even remember the last time I actually used a cd or even a dvd for that matter even my One hasn't seen a disc yet,digital is just so much more convenient

    I'd also be pretty happy with them just adding Spotify or something. I'd prefer to have the music installed on the hard-drive and not to have to snap it to listen to music but I'm not gonna be picky with it.

    Yes it needs to rip cds. Then the cd can be put away. Everyone that rips cds does not illegally share them.

    1. With the Zune software open, put an audio CD into your CD drive. When the CD icon appears, click it to display a list of songs.



    2. Clear the check box next to any song that you don't want to rip.



    3. Click Start rip.



    If you put CDs into multiple CD drives on your computer, the additional CDs appear in the upper-left corner of the CD view. Click the CD you want to rip.



    Adjusting audio quality for ripped music



    You can adjust the compression quality used during ripping to balance between quality and file size. If you're not sure which settings to use, try ripping with different formats and bit rates, and then play the files. To do this:



    1. From your Zune software, click Settings at the top of your screen, click Software in the upper-left corner of the screen, and then click Rip in the list at the left.



    2. Make your selections on the Audio format and Audio quality menus.

    you cannot rip from a flash drive. You must rip it from a cd. make sure that you format it as a audio cd.

    Why Can't I Rip CD's Anymore?

    You can still rip CD's

    Are you trying to rip a CD you bought or a CD you burned on the PC?

    There are a few store bought CD's that will prevent any type of ripping...but i've only came across 1 before.

    If you are using a CD you burned, did you burn this as an Audio Disc or as a Data Disc?

    Data Disc will never work...so if you filled a disc with 700mb of MP3's, you wont be able to rip it. If you created a 70-80 minute audio disc, you should have no issues ripping.

    I recently ripped 6 albums to my XBOX and they were all store bought albums but I did rip a few to a CD-RW because I dont like how the bonus tracks from a disc 2 will not be grouped to the original album.

    Hey Cmack! Are you trying to rip an original CD, or a burned CD? I only ask, because most original CD's contain what is called DRM (Digital Rights Management) that prevents you from ripping it.
