Captures stored ON my Xbox disappeared

Looking at my captures that are on my console, the oldest thing I have is 18 days ago. I have had my Xbox X since launch so I have had a lot more captures than that. They are still on Xbox Live but not on the console. Looking at update history I think
that the update that released on 7/5/18 may have caused this. I doubt there is any way to get them back onto my console but I wanted to make people aware of this. I was talking to a few other people who said they also lost anything that was on their console
around the same time of the update and others that have had prior updates do the same thing to them.

All Captures Disappeared

All of my captures have disappeared. I haven't changed any settings but I know that it happened at the same time that my profile's Gamerscore Leaderboard went into a new month. All captures have disappeared from both my xbox one profile page and also when
logged in online. I have power cycled my xbox etc but that hasn't changed anything.

Not sure if it's related but about 6 weeks ago my entire activity feed disappeared. So within a couple of months, both my entire activity feed and every single capture have all disappeared. Surely I can't be the only person this has happened to. Assistance
would be most appreciated by anyone.

Captures stored internally on my XBOX One deleting

Hello All,

I have been doing many game clip captures of my mass effect playthroughs. However, all clips and screenshots that are stored internally on my xbox one have been disappearing after about 21 days. They have just completely vanished and I do not know why this
has happened. It is frustrating because I have lost a lot of good content and I do not wish to lose more. I have already exhausted my online storage place, so storing them there is not an option without having to delete some of the clips from my online storage,
which I do not want to do. Any help would be great.

It's not related to the update.

The Xbox console has only a limited amount of reserved space for captures, so if that limit is reached, new captures will "push out" older captures.

If you wish to keep certain captures permanently, you need to use Upload Studio to upload your captures to OneDrive for example.

 

Just a quick update about what @Arminator said, when you record a new clip, you can push the xbox button on your controller, go on recent recordings,
open the clip you want to save forever, and select "Upload to OneDrive"

No need to create a new clip via upload studio!

 

I know exactly what you are talking about and this is not the case. EVERY capture I had before a certain time disappeared. Not to mention this was on a less than 1 year old Xbox One X. I had my prior console since launch, taking many many captures and never
had an old one removed. Even if you were correct and I somehow took more captures in a year than I took in over 3 years on my other xbox, it wouldn't cause everything to disappear. It would gradually push old ones out. Several other people have reported
to me that they have lost captures after this update and even prior updates, and looking at when I lost mine, it happened right about the time the July update was applied.

 

Then why is it that when i went to look at the recent captures that ive made over the last few days, the only captures i have were from over a year ago?? Where are all of my recent captures? Even the captures i had posted to my activity feed are gone
