    Can’t watch A DVD without a connection?


    Hi there, I have been trying to use the blue ray player while offline. I have previously connected to the services downloaded it and checked for updates not that long ago. Unfortunately my IP Services have gone down and I wanted to watch a dvd since most
    of my games are online anyways. Each time I try to play a dvd it will not allow me to do so without connecting to a network. I’ve gone offline on all three accounts and made sure to sign into the account set as the home Xbox account. Is there anything else
    I can do, or do I have to be connected to internet. Thanks.

    I’m having same issue, 2 hours with support trying everything helped nothing, I can’t play dvds without freezing also, sucks

    Does this issue only occur when watching streaming content through Amazon & Netflix, after this can you try watching a Blu Ray or DVD to see if the same issues occurs. If Blu Rays and DVD play without issue I would try carrying out

    network troubleshooting tests     to make sure you have no connection issues.

    I watched a DVD without my HDD and it didn't freeze once. i watched the DVD and had my xbox on for nearly 3 hours and nothing was wrong with it so I think it is due to the most recent update

    The dongle? If you are referring to the HD DVD add-on, that is different. When the Xbox 360 launched HD DVD and Blu-Ray were competing for the future of disk based media and Blu-Ray won. To watch HD-DVD movies on the Xbox 360 you had to purchase a separate
    device but regular DVD's can be watched without any hook-ups.

    An internet connection is not required while watching a DVD. Can you describe what error you're seeing?

    If this is the first DVD that you've tried to watch, then it's possible that you haven't downloaded the Blu-Ray Player app, which is required to watch Blu-Rays/DVDs. When you first put a Blu-Ray/DVD in the console, it will automatically prompt you to
    download the app. If you didn't already have it installed and you weren't connected to Xbox Live, then it would give you an error.

    Let us know what you're seeing and whether or not you're able to watch a DVD while offline after downloading the Blu-Ray Player app. We'll be standing by to hear back from you! ^_^
