    hi, I have an Xbox one but can't use it as there is no HDMI slot on the TV (it's kind of old). I was wondering if I get an adapter that converts HDMI to component will everything work ok? I'm not too bothered about sound quality as I have a turtle beach
    headset. Please help Can't use Xbox one on old TV as it has no HDMI slot :(

    Logitech speakers with Xbox one ??

    My TV only has a an optical out for sound, I have the Xbox One in my HDMI 1 slot with the Mac Mini connected to the TV in slot on the Xbox One and my PS3 connected to the TV's HDMI 2 slot.

    All of this has to output sound through the optical out on the TV, I bought a Bose Soundlink Mini but it has no optical in slot, I am now forced into buying an optical Soundbar, effectively making the Soundlink Mini redundant.

    ^^^^Like Ice Storm said please plug in the HDMI cable into a different HDMI slot on your tv and change the input and see if that works. This will rule out that the HDMI slot has become faulty on your TV. Or you can also try to plug something different in
    the same HDMI slot on your TV and you will get the same check to see if it is your TV's HDMI slot. If that doesn't fix the problem and your TV's HDMI slot is fine then it most likely is that the HDMI slot in the XBOX has become faulty. Try plugging the Xbox
    into a different HDMI slot on a different TV and see if that fixes the problem. If that does not that will be proof positive that the HDMI slot in your 360 has become faulty and it is time to set up a repair

    They make converters (you'll most likely run into HDCP issues though, and the quality is hit or miss) but If you can I would use a HDMi to DVI or VGA if you can. If that options not available honestly you should upgrade your TV, you can buy 32 inch TVs
    for well under 200 bucks these days.

    He doesn't need an xbox to watch TV. You can run one HDMI from the hopper to the TV and run an HDMI from xbox to another slot on the TV. Unless it is an old tv and just has one HDMI input. In that case yes you can run it thru the Xbox but the xbox has
    to be on while you are watching tv and half the times you will need to do a full reboot on the xbox before you can watch TV. There are lots of issues with running your tv signal thru the xbox.

    the reason its designed to cover the hdmi slot when plugging in the standard tv cable is it can't output to both, if i remember i think the standard slot if using component cables outputs 1080i and standard def with the normal cable, 1080p via hdmi.
