Can't use Xbox live account on 360 and a Xbox one?!?

So I read every where that we would be able to use one account on a 360 and a Xbox one. But I every time I try to sign back into my 360 to play trials evo, I get a massage that says the account won't work on my 360 any more. Is this a mistake and I should
be able to, or did we get boned on that feature?!?

360 and One on same gold account

If I sign in to Xbox Live on my Xbox One, will I also be able to sign in on the same account on my 360 at the same time? Say someone is using the Xbox One in the living room and I'm playing my 360 in my bedroom. Will I be able to use the same account?

I just did this today with my offline partners profile which was on my own Gold account (360 )

You need to use a 24hr, 2 day, 7day pass and create an xbox live account for each of them, then port them across

You can use your account on both console with no issues at all. You can even use the account on both consoles at the same time if you so choose.

Try clearing the cache to see if that works

support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

If it doesn't then try deleting the profile only (not profile and items) and then redownloading it to the 360.

The problem is that I never linked my xbox 360 to my xbox live account, [...]. So I'm trying to link my xbox live account to my xbox 360, but all I get are error messages.

My account is linked to my xbox one without any problems, but in order to save xbox 360 game data on my xbox one, I have to download my/a xbox 360 profile, which I can't do because my profile won't connect to xbox live.

The problem is, since you used a Xbox One, your Microsoft Account is now already "occupied" with a Gamertag, so you can't use that Microsoft Account to bring your old Xbox 360 offline Gamertag online.

You COULD create a new Microsoft Account to bring your Xbox 360 account online, but you won't be able to access the savegames with your Xbox One account, as Savegames can't be transferred between accounts.

So depending on how much you already invested in your Xbox One account, you might try to bring your old Xbox 360 account online, and use that on your Xbox One, and start your Xbox One gaming history over, or you can abandon your Xbox 360 saves and just use
your old account on the Xbox One to download your previous Xbox 360 digital games, and start these over with your new Xbox One account.

Since it's not possible to merge Gamertag accounts, you will have to decide which account you wish continue to use for actual gaming, and which account you simply keep to claim license ownership for downloaded games.

There is no such thing as an Xbox 360 account. All Live accounts work on all live supported systems, 360, Xbox One and PC. You need to use the same account you use for your Xbox One with BC games.

If your xbox 360 profile didn't have xbox live gold then you can't get its profile data, if you're using the same account as your xbox 360 account then you can just sign in using it.

You can't transfer content from one Xbox LIVE account to another. Content licenses are stored in the Xbox 360 console rather than in the Xbox LIVE account.

To enable someone else's Xbox LIVE account to use your content licenses, you must download your Xbox LIVE profile and then transfer your content licenses to that person's Xbox 360 console.

If your Microsoft account has an Xbox Live Gold membership, it is usable on both Xbox One and Xbox 360. Just sign into Xbox 360 using that same account that you use on Xbox One.
