Can't use Xbox Credit for 360 Purchases

I was trying to make a few purchases at marketplace.xbox.com with some of the Black Friday deals. I have some rewards credit in my account that shows up fine if I try to purchase an Xbox One game/DLC. For 360 games (pretty much every one I've looked at)
it doesn't have that as a payment option. I talked to two different support people and haven't gotten anywhere. One told me that some publishers don't accept that as a payment option, but even Halo 4 wasn't showing my credit as a payment option...and that's
from Microsoft.

Is there a way for me to use my credit? I don't have a 360 anymore, but I would be very confused to get a gift card and not be able to use it if that was my only console.

Probably a stupid question

If you are purchasing Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One you have to use a credit card or Paypal. You cannot use a pre-existing balance on your Microsoft account. If you want to use that balance, then you need to purchase it on the Xbox 360 first.

 

Telling me to purchase other ways, but can't

I don't own an Xbox 360. Does this mean I can't purchase the game at all?

 

The only way to use the currency on your account for 360 content is through the console. The website has never been updated to work with the currency system for the 360.

The only other option that might work might be the smartglass app, but I'm not 100% sure whether the 360 one does allow purchases or not.

 

Hopefully they update the store soon then if that's the case. There were some good Black Friday deals that I wanted to grab.
