Can't use this GamerTag

Hey, I tried to change my GamerTag and it says it's not available. The thing is when I look up the GamerTag I can't find anyone with it.

I want my gamertag back

Hi,

I don't have an Xbox anymore, so my windows live ID has expired from non-use.

I want to reclaim my gamertag (dlorey), so I can use it on my PC, but I can't find any way to get this back??

Creating a new WLID just creates a new gamertag, and I can't rename my current gamertag to match the old account, as it's still "in use".

Ideas? (I'm in the UK).

I whant to delete this G-Tag

You can't delete a gamertag.

If you want to use the Live ID tied to it on another gamertag, change this gamertag's Live ID (on a console) to point to another email address, and the other Live ID will be available to use on another gamertag.

If the system says the tag is taken then it's in use somewhere on Microsoft's servers. The tag system is in use on other Microsoft services so even if it's not being used for Xbox it could be in use elsewhere. The system also doesn't see things like spaces
as making a gamertag unique. So you could look up "gamertag" and it may not show up, but could still be in use as "gamer tag"

The tag isn't always freed up instantly so keep trying,it can take a couple of days sometimes.

The tag will have to be 12 characters or less as well.

Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live so you can't know if the the gamertag is being used or not.

As mentioned,you can't request a gamertag to be freed up,if it says it's being used then thats it,nothing you can do.

I understand perfectly your point, just try to combine the gamertag you want with another word or character, I tested with "Blood1" and the availability allowed me to choose it.

• Does your old gamertag have any Suffix included in it? Note: Just answer yes or no for this question. Do not provide the specific name of the old gamertag that you own.

• What is the specific date of the email you had received that the shows your gamertag was created using your current email address? If possible, kindly please provide a screenshot. Just exclude any sensitive information to protect your own data privacy.

• On what specific device did your old gamertag show?

• Have you already tried to check the information on how Gamertag works and how you can change it from this support article link: Xbox gamertag FAQ | Xbox Support?
