Can't use some services

I recently used a one year X-Box Live gold membership card on a different profile, VolcanicCasey, and I can't join my friends game, join a private chat, join a party, or delete friends. I can still join public games and seem to have no other connection
issues. I have tested and reset my router. Also, after inputting the code on the card, my system froze at the confirmation screen.

Well, just because it isn't in use with Xbox Live does not mean you can have it, as other Microsoft services use gamertags as well (e.g., Windows 8) and if a gamertag can't be selected, it is either in use with some Microsoft
service or is reserved for some reason.

 

My Brother's Xbox Live profile can't do anything right now! Help!

Why can some use their payed for service and other can't do jack??? SORT IT OUT MS WE PAY FOR THIS!!!!

Just to make sure, have you tried using the Xbox Live Parties support
page? After you've visited that page there is also the
Problems with Xbox Live Chat support page.

Might I also ask what Modem/Router you are using? Update me on your details after!

 

I am using a Netgear R6300 smart Wi-Fi router with a Centurylink C1000A modem. I don't know why this would matter, I own other game systems and none of them have any connection issues. Also, none of the troubleshooting helped. My problem isn't with connecting
to X-Box live, my problem is that I can't join a party, chat with, or play with my friends. I am having no issues with public games or services. And the profile that is having these issues is VolcanicCasey, not FlipperPage.

You seem to have a very frustrating problem with your console,

Have you tried clearing your system cache? To do this go to the link below.

support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

If you are still have problems after clearing your system cache please turn off you console and unplug your power supply for 30 seconds then plug in your power cable.

That still didn't work. It seems like the problem is with my X-Box live gold membership, not my system. Every time I try to connect with my friend, I get a error message that says connection to host has failed. I am able to play with him on public servers
though.
