Can't use Microsoft points to purchase xbox Gold membership

    You cannot use Microsoft Points to purchase Gold Membership or Zune Membership.

    However you can use Microsoft Points to purchase arcade games or any other contents in the marketplace.

    To purchase Gold Membership you will need a Payment Option or PayPal.

    Unfortunately, this isn't anything you are doing wrong but at this time currency in your Microsoft Account can't be used to purchase an Xbox Live Gold Membership, which is stated in their

    Currency FAQ    . For now you will need to purchase an Xbox Live Membership Card from a local retailer or use another payment option to purchase the membership online or via your console. Hope this answers your question!

    The only way you have ever been able to purchase Gold is with credit card/paypal or prepaid gold membership cards. That is how it has been. That is the way it is now. Local currency is not able to be used for Gold Subscriptions just as points were never
    a possibility.

    Why would you buy currency when there is prepaid membership cards

    The reason why is obvious a if you want pay as you go membership you need to buybprepaid cards

    B if you want the convience and savings of the dashboard deals you must use a reoccurring payment option like debit or credit card

    Its a subscription not pay as you go

    It says right on the currency cards Dlc games and music andnlovies not for subscriptions why in the world woulwoulu think otherwise

    Microsoft Points cannot be used to purchase an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership. Microsoft Points can only be used to for purchasing content such as games, movies, and t.v shows on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

    Microsoft points can only be used to purchase items on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace like games, tv shows, and movies.

    the portion under "Will I be able to buy an Xbox Live Gold Membership with the currency in my Microsoft account?"
