Can't Use Microsoft Account Balance on xbox.com

Why can't I use my MS Account Balance on xbox.com? I travel a lot and want to buy something but it seems MS doesn't want me to. Should I just stop buying if I can't use my account anymore?

You can't use a Microsoft account balance to purchase backwards compatible titles through the Xbox One or xbox.com. You have to purchase them on a Xbox 360 console using this balance.

Are you trying to get this free DLC on Xbox.com or on your Xbox? The site isn't currently setup to use your Microsoft account balance. You'll need to use your console to purchase DLC. Even free DLC. When you go to purchase the DLC on your console, that will
complete the currency conversion and you'll be able to use your Microsoft account balance to buy content. But not on Xbox.com.

 

At this time, purchases on Xbox.com cannot be made using your Microsoft account balance. You'll have to use a credit/debit card or Paypal to purchase from the site.

 

Okay but why? It's been a year since they switched points to currency. They have no problem taking my credit card but Microsoft currency I actually purchased can't be used. So basically I shouldn't buy xbox cards anymore.

 

It hasn't even been 5 months yet let alone a year. I'm sure the website will be updated soon, you have to remember that Microsoft just launched the One and has devoted many of it's resources to that project.

 

Then perhaps MS should not have switched to currency before they were ready?

Making their lack of resources their clients' problem is not the way to go.

It's frustrating and annoying.

And as a parting comment - I cannot even "buy" free things like demos and Games with Gold on the web site?

 

Well if you are traveling

You will encounter bigger problems then not having a payment method on file with games for gold

For one most triple a titles In the games for gold program is usually region locked

So queuing from the website usually won't work if your physical region isn't the same as your account region

 

@ngicphi: why do you assume traveling outside the region? I travel a couple states over to visit family frequently, have this same problem. Some people just want to shoot holes. Still, this issue makes little sense. Why is this still a problem? What is the
point of an account balance with limited useability? I bet if Wal-Mart said you could only use their gift cards in the store in which you purchased it, there would be an uproar.

 

I think there's a little misunderstanding here, the balance doesn't have limited usability and has nothing to do with your region, if games are region locked and you live in an unsupported region then you will not be able to purchase the region locked content
not even with a credit card, so basically if you're trying to buy a game that is only available for US accounts, you're elsewhere and not physically present in the states and even if you have a US account you won't be able to confirm the purchase, not with
a credit card, Paypal or even your Microsoft credits.

 

I dont like using the avatar store on the box, and i was trying to use my 28$ in my account on the site but it wont let me. WTF!

 

The site is broken and probably they are not willing to fix it so you have to bear with using the console!

 

I'm out of town and away from my xbox.... and wanted to make a purchase with my Microsoft account balance via xbox.com that would cover the transaction cost of a game that is on sale with the weekly XBLA deals ..... that way it would be added to my download
queue when I get back into town and use my xbox again in a week or so.

The only problem is xbox.com won't let you use your Microsoft account balance to make the purchase and you can ONLY use your credit card to buy a game and have it added to your download queue via xbox.com. Since I can't use the Microsoft currency that is
already available in my account (you can redeem a code on xbox.com to add currency to your account, but can't actually make purchases with that currency via xbox.com? wtf?) .... now I'm not going to be able to purchase the XBLA game I want that is on sale
this week because xbox.com wont let me use my Microsoft account balance and I don't have access to my credit card at the moment while I'm out of town.

I already had a chat discussion with a customer service rep on xbox.com...... which is pretty much summarized to "credit card or GTFO when making purchases on our website".

 

Well Bye Microsoft, Just bought a ps4. Its the little things that matter to me, You can't fix this for the 360 even though you fixed it for Xbone purchases, your customers don't matter to you it seems. I know this won't be read by anyone that cares but still
saying it none the less.
