  1. Can't use ethernet to connect Series X to the internet

Hey everyone, for reasons I can't figure out, I can't seem to connect my Series X to the internet witha wired connection. This started when a storm came through my area and knocked out the power for a few hours. Had no issues with the system before, but ever since, the console WILL NOT connect to the internet via its ethernet port. It will recognize the cable, and it does work with WiFi, but every time I've tried to use a wired connection, it tries to connect for 5 seconds and just gives up. Just to make sure it wasn't the cable at fault, I pulled out my Xbox One and it connected with the same cable just fine. I also heard resetting the MAC address has fixed this so I tried it and no luck. Is there any solution to this or is my console's ethernet port faulty?

    Slow Download Speeds

Did you manage to fix the connectivity issue? My Series X constantly drops connection to xbox live/internet despite an ethernet cable being used.

    Xbox series X crash

Do you mean crashes as in switches off? or back to the Home Screen? My son has had 3 series x so far! The first two randomly switching off and Microsoft said to return for refund and this latest one was dropping the internet connection by going back to the Home Screen. It seems as though my wireless internet connection wasn’t good enough even though the series x is in the same room as router. I tried using an Ethernet cable connecting the series x directly to the router and not had a problem since! I would recommend trying this. I know its not ideal in the day of WiFi but it’s worked for us and my son is happy.

    I hope this helps

    Set up issue

Are you using a wired or wireless internet connection?

Try a wired connection (ethernet cable) to your network hardware and restart the console. It should connect and do the required OS update.

If wireless choose a factory refresh of the console. After the refresh is complete, input the console setup details again.

Setup new Series X S has further details.

Xbox series x Ethernet port broken?

    Hi all,

It’s not a new question I know, but is there any fix for the Ethernet port problem with the Series X planned?

I can see questions ranging back from release and it is making the unit completely frustrating to use. Any time it powers down, it disconnects from Ethernet upon restart and takes a long period of restarts, resets and unplugging to reconnect again.

It seems to be particularly bad when in energy saving mode, where it won’t connect at all. I’ve tried every way of resolving the problem but it simply reoccurs immediately afterwards and never stays connected for long.

Microsoft must be aware - are they planning a fix? Is it a hardware/firmware problem? Are all series x’s doing this?
I'm having the same problem. Unplugged my series x and played on another console, plugged my series x in and couldn't connect to internet using ethernet port. Wireless works fine. Did everything to diagnose the problem. Called Microsoft and I'm barely 2 months out of my warranty, go figure. Read up on this problem and we are definitely not the only ones dealing with wonky ethernet ports. Wish I had a answer for ya bud.

Hotspot not working for series X/S

    Hi

I have had similar problems with my sons series x dropping internet connection and the only way of curing this was connecting the console directly to the router with an Ethernet Cable. It now works with no issues. I hope this helps.

And to add my sons Xbox one worked perfectly on our WiFi with no issues but the series x has issues, I’ve no idea why it has these issues but the cable sorted it.
