Can't update xbox one-x console

I see - so for now, I'll have to redownload the OSU1 file from the support section everytime there is a system update, correct? Downloading it from the settings menu on my console just leads to problems and causes games and apps to stop working or I get
those dreadful startup errors.

Didn't think the internal HDD would start to go bad after just 3-4 months!

The OSU file isnt the full update so you dont need too worry about it been outdated or a new update just released like today. All the the OSU is a kind of reset file too get you out of any issues it does contain some things that happens in the back ground
but after you use the OSU you will be asked too try the update again. Its just letting you do that basicly.

The methord you mentioned with the bind and eject keys is fine this is a factory reset and may get rind of any issues and errors. What sounds too be the issue is that either your OS is corrupt hence the black screen issue or has you mentioned the hard drive
is done the OS system is stored on the internal drive only.

What i would advise is contine using the console has you are if you get ask too update and you will too connect too xbox live then do that. If it fails then try the OSU file. If that all at a deadend then the next step is either you buy a new console or
have it serviced. If the console is in warranty 12 months normally then that service would be free and if xbox cant fix it they replace the console.

That is correct, that file on the Xbox website is frequently updated, and thus will provide you with the most recent build for your Xbox One firmware.

Thanks for the input Felix - so it turns out my console is under a manufacturer's warranty even though I picked up a Jan 2018 build in April 2019 from a friend? It was unused/brand new and sealed. Got the Live and GP codes and all, although the GP codes
had expired, unfortunately.

I'm all the way in SE Asia at the moment so sending the console to a US repair facility is going to take quite a while, I imagine? Plus, I also hear I have to provide MS a $450 deposit while my new console is en route for security, which I can't afford right
now.

So again, am I not better off just getting somebody here to replace the internal HDD - possibly with a higher quality and faster one?

Thank goodness I have an external on which I'm accessing all my games and apps otherwise I'd have a useless console right now. I find it extremely odd though for a 4-month old console to have issues with the internal HDD. I also have the original xbox one
which has ran flawlessly for over 4 years - I mostly played from the internal HDD until I got fed up with the limited space and got an external WD drive - these are way better than the Seagate ones inside the Xbox One X by the way.

I do remember moving/transferring games back and forth between the internal and external drive for some performance benchmarking and game load times. I hope that hasn't caused unnecessary wear and tear on the internal drive = although I've never heard of
such an issue ever, being in IT myself.

That sounds like a unique issue. If you've owned your console for 1 year or less, you'll still be under the 1 year manufacturer warranty just incase you want to send it in for repair
