cant update my internet explorer on xbox

...telling me I need to update my browser with 3 choices and none of them will download because Xbox says you can't download to a local hard drive, but the app is on the same hard drive, explain that one to me if you can.

The three download links are intended for PC users. Since the website mistakenly detects your console browser incorrectly, they show you the PC links.

Since the Xbox console is a so-called "walled garden", and you are only allowed to install apps from a known source (i.e. apps and games from the Xbox marketplace and nothing else), the Xbox browser does not allow you to download anything.

In order to prevent malicious websites from compromising the Xbox system, the browser runs in a "sandbox" and has no access to the console storage. It only has a small app internal storage for website cache and temporary files. That storage is not big enough
for any downloads, and the Xbox system will not allow you to download even the tiniest file at all.

The Xbox browser is just a minimal tool to display websites.

And if a website erroneously mis-identifies the browser, you need to contact the website owner to fix their browser detection, or use a different device.

The console updates the browser together with the system update.

when I try to update it it says I cant download it to my hard drive

You would need to do a system update and this would update any apps like this that are part of the operating system.

Okay I see your reasoning but Microsoft support page won't even let me on it without it so the old game theory I think is out the window LOL, but anyway I think I am going to give up trying to fix it because I have gotten absolutely no where so, thanks
