can't update Minecraft on Windows

If not, please try to download the latest version from the Microsoft Store, not from the Launcher. But please reset its cache before:

- Uninstall any Minecraft version/edition you have.

- Go to Start > Search for PowerShell > Right Click > Run as Administrator.

- In Windows PowerShell, type the following commands and press Enter (one at a time):

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

- Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.

- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Microsoft Store > Advanced Options > Reset.

- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Xbox App > Advanced Options > Reset.

- Go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking > Fix it. (Windows 10 only)

- Go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > Set if OFF.

- Press the Windows Key + R. Type WSReset and press Enter.

- Restart your computer. Open the Microsoft store and sign in with your account. Then, open the Xbox App and sign in with the same account.

Download Minecraft for Windows from the Xbox App or Microsoft Store, not by the Launcher. See how it goes and let me know, please.

installed the windows 7/8 version of the launcher,and now it shows that it is incompatible with the launcher,i'll try to reboot the system to fix it

Please uninstall all the Minecraft versions you have and try using the launcher again. Try running it both with compatibility mode disabled and enabled.

First, see if Windows is updated:

Open Settings > Update and security > Windows Update > Check for updates. Install all the optional updates too.

After that, uninstall all Minecraft editions you have on your computer. Uninstall the Minecraft Launcher too and download the Windows 7/8 launcher. Try installing the game through it.

You can also run it on compatibility mode:

Right-click the Minecraft Launcher > Click Properties > Go to Compatibility tab > Check Run this program in compatibility mode for > Select Windows 7/8.
