Can't update controller to work with turtle beach xo1 headset

I'm having a problem trying to update my controller to my turtle beach headset (xo1). The headset works fine and plays music from my computer, and the adapter lights up and responds to button presses - I even returned the headset to walmart and received
a new one thinking the adapter could have been the issue.

Nonetheless, I cannot update my controller to read the headset - nothing pops up automatically after connecting the USBs and checking for an update manually yields nothing. I have troubleshot all connections multiple times, tried all recommendations from
Microsoft support over the phone, and still nothing. I was forwarded to the connections department at microsoft who pointed out that my moderate NAT might be the cause of the problem - but neither the original customer service agent nor the connections agent
really showed much conviction that NAT was the definite solution. I received the XBOX specific ports to address with my ISP, which I will do when my roommate (his account) is home from vacation. My concern comes with the fact that my original XBOX headset
(chat only) worked no problem regardless of the medium NAT, and the fact that neither service agent really seemed overly certain that NAT was my actual problem. Has anyone heard of this issue, is it specific to the turtle beach model? I am tempted to return
the headset and swap it for an afterglow headset (something I really don't want to do).

I have forwarded the recommended ports from Microsoft support and opened my NAT. Controller still offers no update and does not read that there is a headset connected.

Sorry to hear the troubles with updating your controller. Just to make sure we have everything squared aware, run through all the steps on this page for

Updating your Xbox One Controller. If your console is telling you that no updates are available it sounds like your controller is fully up to date.

So we can narrow this down further, please open up the Skype app and call the Skype Test Call contact. This will let you give an echo test a try. If you're able to hear yourself this would indicate a network problem instead of a hardware issue. Let us know
how it goes
