    Can't update Controller bcuz it won't recognize USB


    For quite some time I have been having an issue whenever I plug in my headset where my Xbox One Controller gets a prompt to update but refuses to acknowledge the existence of my USB cable

    So I have a standard Xbox One controller and a Halo 5 :Guardians Agent Locke themed headset and whenever I plug in my headset to my controller I get a prompt that says

    Your controller needs an update

    An update is available for a recently connected Xbox One Controller. Would you like to update it?

    It then gives me the options

    Update Controller or Cancel

    When I click update controller it takes me to the Xbox Accessories App to update it with a prompt that says

    Let's get ready

    Connect one controller with a USB cable. Keep any attached devices connected to the controller.

    It then gives me the options

    Continue or Exit

    Whenever I select Continue I get an error that says

    There's no controller connected using USB. Make sure the USB cable is firmly attached and try again.

    After repeatedly ensuring that both my USB cable and headset were firmly attached I have been able to update my controller, so as far as I can tell this could mean that my

    Kingtop USB cable     is not compatible for updates despite being able to both charge my controller and turn it into a wired controller just fine... Or, it could mean my

    PowerA Play and charge kit     that I bought late last summer in 2017 is somehow involved in it not recognizing my controller.

    Any help solving this would be greatly appreciated.

    WHY DOESN'T XBOX ONE PLAY MP3?

    External USB drive support is scheduled to be added. Has nothing to do with .mp3 playback support. It won't even recognize a USB drive unless you're using it update the system.

    Hi!

    Suddenly, the Windows 10, after the last update stopped to recognize the USB sensor from the controller. The controller don't synchronize and I don't have any driver do update.

    What could i do?

    Xbox one controller not connecting to Xbox Wireless Adapter for win10

    Summary: I fixed it by plugging USB cable into a controller and pc, win 10 recognized it, system restart was required and after that controller was working wirelessly also.

    Longer description: I installed fresh windows 10, downloaded and installed all win updates, then I tried all these steps and at the end controller started working.

    1) plugged wireless adapter into USB windows 10 recognized it but Xbox one controller won't connect (keep on blinking)

    2) plugged wireless adapter into another USB port but Xbox one controller won't connect (keep on blinking)

    3) plugged wireless adapter into another USB port started task manager removed Xbox one adapter, windows found it again but still noting (gamepad keep on blinking)

    4) plugged wireless adapter into another USB port (front) started task manager removed Xbox one adapter and Xbox drivers, windows found it again installed it but still noting (gamepad keep on blinking)

    5) FINALLY, I fixed it by plugging USB cable into a controller and pc, win 10 recognized it, system restart was required and after that controller was working wirelessly also.

    Sorry to hear that you're having issues. If the USB port on the side of the console does not recognize the controller (both the controller and headset should be connected when updating) then try one of the rear USB ports to see if that will work.

    How to reinstall the control software already turns on after updating

    If it were me, I'd try to connect the controller to the console via USB and seeing if the console recognizes it and you can update it that way.
