Can't turn XBox One on with my controller anymore.

Recently, I noticed that when I powered on my X1 controller, the console no longer powers on with it. Also, when I turn the system off by tapping the light or by Kinect, the controller doesn't turn off like it should and it just stays on (controller is 100%
synced/connected to the console).

I know this is a "small" problem, but it's just inconvenient to me. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Can anyone help with this problem i have, i can't turn on my xbox 360 with the controller anymore.

The console will turn on with the front power button but would like to be able to turn it on with the controller.

It will turn off via controller.

Hey try this:

Turn off your console, unplug the cords connected to it, hold the power button for 30 seconds, plug everything back in and turn on console

Then take out the batteries from the controller, place your finger on the power button on the controller for 30 seconds, put batteries back in, and let me know if that helps

 

Sorry Spyro, but in order to do a hard reset on the xbox one console you have to hold the power button on the front of the console for until it turns off, unplug the console from the outlet for 30 sec then plug it back in and power back on.

I am also having this problem now. I can do a "hard" reset on the console as described to fix it, but the problem keeps cropping up. I shouldn't have to go through all this every time I want to turn the thing on or off, should I?

 

Hey guys! This is a known issue with the 1407 system update. The controller has some strange issues, like the chat adapter failing to work, the controller disconnecting and freezing the system, and the problem you mentioned, the controller failing to power
the system on.

Some additional info on this issue from personal experience, it only applies to Instant-on mode; a hard shut down WILL work temporarily (hold power for 8-12 seconds until the power brick turns orange, unplugging should not be necessary.) At this point, the
controller will successfully power on the system and continue to work in Instant on mode for a handful of attempts, but there will come a point where you will power down the system and you'll notice the controller remains on. This appears to be when the glitch
happens: in my experience, when the controller fails to power down, it will also fail to wake up the system until another hard shut down.

I've also been told that the engineers are aware of and working on this issue!

 

The adapter for the controller (stereo adapter) could not even update my XB1 console. It read "Controller not connected to USB- can't update" when plugged into any of the 3 USB ports. It did this on all USB ports with 2 different USB cables. I called support
and he said it was the console. After some system deletions that he walked me through- the remotes were able to finally be updated with the stereo attachment on the controller and headset attached. He said that they have received alot of calls about this.
I played one game of Ryse with the headset and newly updated remote and exited the game and went back to my main console screen and the console froze and the controllers would not move within the screen or power on or off the console. (I tried both controllers)
The logo light was on the controller, but it would not work. I turned off the console manually, with no change. I took the batteries out of both controllers and hooked up the USB cable trying both controllers via USB and the console and controllers still
would not work with the console. I manually powered down again with no changes.

I finally unplugged the console while the screen was frozen, turned off both controllers manually and finally was able to turn on the console normally once I plugged the console back in. Tried to turn on the second remote with success.

I have only had the "one" for about three weeks and this was the first problem I have had....but it was very frustrating and I fear that using a headset with my console and the "stereo attachment" will cause more problems...I hope not!

 

Definitely frustrating, Ecto. I was actually the first to report this "controllers disconnecting and freezing" issue, I ran into it the very 1st day I got 1407.

Just a side note, I would STRONGLY urge against unplugging the console while it is powered on, this could cause serious damage. Speaking from experience, I ran through all the steps you mentioned (powering controller off and back on, pressing the power light
on the console to turn it off - which puts it into the instant-on sleep mode, not fully powered down) with the same results as you, the controller fails to respond.

I can say, the safest and most reliable way to fix it is by holding the power light on the console for 8-12 seconds until the light on the power brick turns a steady orange. At this point, you can use the controller to power it back up and it will be working
again. This is only a temporary fix, though because it could recur in the future, until the engineers completely resolve it. Just know you're not alone in this issue!

 

Same issue here. No controller to power off console functionality in Instant-On mode. Works fine in Power-saving mode. Sucks because I like to keep the instant-on enabled for background downloads and system updates. It does appear that the July (1407)
update is the culprit. However, my controllers have been disconnecting and wonky since I've owned this thing. Very bad when I'm standing in the middle of a multiplayer game of Battlefield 4 and controller drops sync randomly. Gameplay dies and chat to friends
die while the controller tries to get itself together. It also appears that battery level decreases affects the connection that the wireless controller has with the console.

 

I hope they fix this soon I dont like having to use it in power saving mode.

 

Well Update/OS version 1408 (August 18th) update has appeared to have cleared up my controller power on/off issues with Instant-On enabled. In other words, the controller is now powering on & off with console. Now I will be monitoring the controller disconnect
issues while in-game to see if all works as should. Thanks guys! Be blessed.
