Can't turn Xbox on

A few night ago there was a thunder storm. A lightning strike struck not too far from my house, causing the power to flicker, shutting all the electronics off. Seconds later the power came back up, and everything turned on, including my Xbox. Afterwards
I tried to restart the Xbox and it refused to turn back on.

When I touch the power button, it does nothing. I followed the troubleshooting, and even used different outlets to ensure that they weren't the issue. I unplugged the power supply and allowed it time to power down before plugging it back in. Upon plugging the
power supply back into Xbox the LED would flash orange then white several times before finally resting on orange. Touching the power button on orange does nothing after that display, however I have discovered that if I press the power button while the LED
flashes white, my Xbox makes the button but does not light up.

I borrowed a power supply, and it still does the same exact thing.

Can't turn on game bar

I am not at all sure that this is the best forum for my question...if not, please move it and let me know!

I am trying to use the XBox app to record screen video. From all I have read this should be easy but I can't start the game bar. When I press Win-G; either nothing happens or I get a message that the recording can't be saved, check to see that the folder
allows files to be saved.

So, if I start settings and go to Gaming and then to Game Bar there is a switch to turn recording on or off. Mine is set to Off. I can set it to On. Then if I simply go to Game DVR and then return to Game Bar, the switch is now Off. In other words, I
can't seem to turn the recording switch on and have it stay on; it is automatically turning off.

I've tried searching the internet for this problem but have seen a lot of posts about how to turn recording on and off, how to uninstall XBox, etc. but nothing that addresses my problem.

From everything I've read, using the XBox game bar is the most convenient way to do screen captures and video captures but I just can't seem to get around this issue.

I hope it's just something simple I'm overlooking.

I can't turn it on. It starts the blower and it turns on a red light and then it shuts down

Sorry your Xbox console is having issues. if you've tested your console with a known good working power supply, and it's still having those issues you likely will need to get your console serviced. Please see this link for

I bought a refurbished xbox one. I took it out of the box, plunged it and it was not turning on. I called technical support and ad to send the console to the repair center. Fortunately the console as a one year guaranty. But i find it strange that a refurbished
console do not work. Maybe i was unlucky, but still... I think its disappointing .

 

Have this problem from time to time. Power cycling has worked for me hope it works for you.

 

Even new units fail to function out of the box sometimes. Unfortunately, it does happen. If you have any issues you want to be addressed in the forums please start your on thread. Happy Gaming!

 

Same here but no power strike. Unit just turned into a paperweight overnight. Tried all the troubleshooting but no joy. Downloading the diagnostic tool but have no hope. Xbox Day One edition = lemon. The sensor died a few months after the warranty expired.
Now this. Very NOT happy.
