    Can't Turn off Cortana, Won't Shut up after turned off!


    Randomly the Cortana feature starting speaking while I was playing a game last night, something that has never happened before. I don't really use the Kinect so I tried to turn it off. I followed the instructions and after five attempts, Cortana incessantly
    speaks when I ever toggle to anything. I can't even begin to describe how annoying this is. Xbox says that Cortana is disabled, yet it keeps talking. Is this is a software malfunction or an update gone wrong? Please help!

    Turning off Xbox 360

    I've noticed that happen with my slim and elite. It will stay running for a bit before turning off and then after that the power bar keeps going for a while.

    Lots of times I will hit the power to turn it on then back off right away and it will shut it down.

    Cortana hearing other players

    Is anyone having trouble with Cortana hearing other players? I use a astro a50 headset through the 3.5mm jack in the bottom of my remote. I can mute my microphone and cortana still responds to anyone talking in a lobby. I had thought my mic was picking
    up my earpiece but have ruled that out. They can pretty much control my cortana and shut off my console if they have their cortana turned off.

    Can you describe what she is saying like if you snap it'll define / say the words on screen. Or is it something else.

    Hi

    It sounds like you may have by accident turned the narrator on please press and hold down the the Xbox button on the controller to bring up the console shut down menu and there will hopefully be the option listed in small text at the bottom to press the
    menu button to turn this feature on/off.

    No. After i discovered it was the xbox i went and turned all that off. Turned absolutely everything off. Even cortana. Turned her off too in case she was listening in the background.

    "Hey Cortana turn off" works. I haven't tried "hey Cortana turn off the Xbox" yet.

    Try turning Cortana off. Seriously. I had issues with achievements until I turned off Cortana.
