Can't top up my gold with credit card or prepaid card

I'm currently on a 7 month prepaid card. It ends April 9th. I've tried to use a credit card to top up but it says the below error.

I have a 3 month card to use to top up since it will not let me use a credit card, but it gives me the same exact error. Do I have to let my membership run out? I have a 9 year tenure and do not want it to start over because MS are making it impossible
to give them money. Please help. I've never had an issue and sometimes I use a prepaid code and other times I use my credit card.

I've used my credit card after this didn't work to buy a game and it did it with no issue. It's only trying to buy gold that it won't work.

You can't use currency in your account to purchase Gold. The only ways you have ever been able to purchase Gold has been with either credit card/paypal or with prepaid subscription cards.

Gold subscription does not except prepaid cards.edit

Not sure how in 2016, you don't use debit or credit cards but that's just me.

Anyway, could someone else confirm if using prepaid VISAs work or not? You could always go to gamestop or bestbuy, use your prepaid VISA card on a subscription xbox live card. That should work. Perhaps order a digital code on amazon with your prepaid VISA. I'm pretty sure they accept it.Click to expand...

Doesn't trust banks or credit card companies. Tries to use their pre-paid cards.

I fear for this person's future when they try to buy a house with no credit. Maybe they are rich and will just buy it out right with their mattress money.

As for a solution to your problem, use your prepaid card from a company you don't trust to buy a 12-month or 3-month Xbox Live Gold card from the store.

Git my answer from support. You cannot add and gold to a current membership. You have to let it expire.

No you can stack up to 3 years I personally did it back in november

However the codes must be fom the same region as your account

The codes are region locked now so if you bought an us card etc it won't work on an Canadian account

They are from the same region. I bought them at the same Gamestop. They won't stack. They used to but they're not working now. You definitely can't add gold with a credit card if you're currently using a prepaid card. I'm just going to let it run out.

What pup is saying you can buy it with a PREPAID card with cash without the need for a credit card.

However, you can't add a prepaid gold card without paying off the balance first.
