Cant speak in xbox party

I am having issues. The microphone sign is muted, in other words it has a cross through it. But he doesnt have his headphone plugged in. He has had this issue on and off now for allmost a year and each time we have thought it was the headphones or his
controller. he got an elite controller for his xmas as I thought, spend a bit more on quality and eliminate the issue. He also got another headset. Guess what, same issue again in last week. As a result my 10 year old son has now said he cant be bothered
anymore with the hassle. So he has taken my PS4 to play his pals, mainly fortnite so he is happy. meanwhile all the money invested into the xbox looks like a total waste, time and money. I just renewed the Xbox live in january so very annoyed at the level
of service or help i am receiving from Xbox team.

not sure what else to say, except I am now worn out and tired with someone actually wanting to take some time to see if they can help me.

It has happened with me before.. It's definitely the controller. If the audio jack in the controller gets screwed up or shorts out you won't be able to hear or speak. Unfortunately, the only thing you may have to do is 1. Refund the controller(if you can)
or 2. Buy a new controller.

My NAT Type is Open.

Ive tried the audio thing and that didnt work and i use a headset adapter as well and with or without using that i couldnt speak

create a static IP for the console,
and port forwarding on the network
configuration settings for a better connection.

No these didnt work. And its more of my friends cant hear me and i cant say anything rather than i cant hear them

I have and im not banned and i can speak on the party chat on the phone app but not on my xbox
