Can't sign into xbox Live account because of error code: 0x404

Hello Xbox.
I've been trying to sign into my Xbox account for hours now and I'm reaching my limit.
I go to the Xbox Console companion to sign in. When I click on 'sign in' it tells me that it can't connect to the internet, even though I've run the troubleshooter on it and there's nothing wrong. I don't know what to do anymore.

I FOUND THE FIX AFTER DAYS OF TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT.

For anyone else having the same issue - the "Xbox Identity Provider" was missing for me.

My PC won't allow me to reinstall Xbox Identity Provider, what do I do to fix this issue? I've tried looking for a download from a different location to try and install it through different means but I couldn't find one.
