cant sign into Xbox compatible account

Thanks for reaching out to us. You can sign in to your current account that you have for your Xbox One X when it brings up to sign in to your Xbox 360 account. Signing in to the account will work and it will allow you to play the game afterwards. Currently,
all it wants is for you to basically sign in once more through the '360 Dashboard' when playing a backwards compatible game on an Xbox One console.

Also, just a friendly reminder that we have only certain games that are backwards compatible to the Xbox One Console's. Here's the list: https://www.xbox.com/xbox-one/backward-compatibility/available-games

I'm having the exact same issue when trying to play Fable 2...

I have tried a few of the suggested answers and they only work temporarily for myself currently. I've taken to having to unplug my ethernet cable and connect wirelessly each time I want to play Halo Wars over xbox live. I reset console, entered internet
settings manually, and as mentioned previously, switching from wired to wireless connection.

Sorry to hear about the issue! To clarify, is this with any backward compatible game, or does this only occur with specific games?

If it's a specific game, try uninstalling and reinstalling that game to see if the issue persists.

If this issue occurs with any back compat Xbox 360 game, let's start by removing your Xbox Live profile from your Xbox One console by following the steps on

this guide. Once the profile has been removed, power cycle your Xbox One console by holding the power button for 10 seconds, and then boot up and sign back in.

If the issue persists after trying the steps in the above two scenarios, you may need to factory restore your Xbox One console. Luckily you can now do this without losing you games and apps. To do this, visit 'System settings' from the settings menu, select
'Console info & updates', then select 'Reset console'. Be sure to select 'Reset and keep my games & apps'.
