Can't sign into the Xbox app

Whenever I try to open the xbox app on Windows 10, I get an error that blocks me from signing in. The error message says, "We can't sign you in right now. Try again later. (0x409) 0x80080300". I have been "Trying again later" for a few weeks now while searching
the web for solutions, but can't find anything that seems to work. (The reason I need to open the app is to turn off the Xbox DVR option).

    Thanks in advance,

    :)

Can't sign into Xbox App, 0x80070520

    I got the same problem.

    Steps that should help:

    - uninstall XBox-App by PowerShell Command

    - create offline-Account

    - restart PC with offline-account and install XBox-App

    - Login with offline-account

    - wait for login confirmation

    - restart PC and login with original (online) account

For me the uninstall and reinstall works, but the problem persists.

As soon as I try to login with the online account - Error Code 0x80070520.

Which is a great error code, since not even Microsoft seems to know what it means Can't sign into the Xbox app :(

Can't sign into the Xbox app

    Hi,

A corrupted profile is one of the common reasons why you are experiencing this issue. To help you resolve your concern, we recommend that you perform the troubleshooting steps below:

Method 1: Run the troubleshooter for Windows apps using this
    link
    .

Method 2: Restart your computer to normal startup to reset your apps and disable unnecessary apps running in the background while using the computer.

    1. Press Windows + R on the keyboard.
    2. Type msconfig, and then click OK.
    3. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup, and then click OK.
    4. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.

After performing the steps above, kindly try to sign in on the Xbox app and check if still does the same thing.

Kindly update us with the results, so that we can help you further.

Running the troubleshooter said it fixed corrupt windows store files but the xbox app proceeded to have the same error.

As for method 2, after opening msconfig from the Run dialogue and completing the above steps, I never received a prompt to restart. The window just closed itself after I clicked OK

I was able to successfully uninstall the xbox app but upon reinstalling, I got the same error. I might just leave it uninstalled though as I don't use the app much. Before this post, I was unable to uninstall the app using different methods, so thank you
so much for helping me figure this out. Though it isn't a perfect solution, I believe it will work in my case as long as the DVR uninstalls with the app.

    Thanks!

    Can't sign into Xbox app

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this Matobit

    Please try this:
Press Windows + X, then click on Windows Powershell (Administrator)

Then type or copy/paste this command and press enter:

    Get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider | Remove-AppxPackage

Restart your PC and install the recently deleted app:

    https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/xbox-id...

Finally go to Windows Settings > Apps and Features > Xbox app > Reset and Repair, then restart your PC and give it a new try.

If that doesn't work please also try these tutorials:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix...

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

    Or try this (RainingRoses response):

"Try the following options for Windows 10/11:
    1. Go to Credential Manager (https://support.microsoft.com/windows/accessing...) > Windows Credentials (not the Web option), select XblGrts|DeviceKey and remove.

    2. Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts. Select your account with the issue and verify that the ‘Apps need to ask me to use this account’ setting is enabled. This would especially help if you have multiple accounts as you would have the option to choose the correct account on startup, but you can always change it back to the automatic option if you prefer. You can also try to remove the account from here and re-add it later.

    3. Follow this file path: C:\Users\[Your Username]AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\TokenBroker
Delete the Accounts and Cache folders, which will be deleted from the Xbox Identity Provider

Note that the highlighted code in this file path depends on your system so may vary.
If you don’t see a particular folder, then confirm there’s no search filters applied and select ‘show hidden items’, or you can just search for the folder in the search bar.
Restart your PC after trying the above steps, so that these properly take effect next time you sign in. It may also help to then reset and repair and/or uninstall and reinstall the Xbox apps where this error occurs."

Then, to run, right-click on the file, and run as administrator. then restart windows. then you need to open the Xbox app from Windows 10 that will be warning you that you need to install an extra component for the app, accept and wait for the installation. After that, Microsoft guarantees that you will be able to reopen and download Xbox Game Pass games on Windows 10.
