Can't sign into gamer pass

I was able to get it to work after doing several things. I did windows updates, installed the companion app and uninstalled and reinstalled the Xbox Beta App. I am not sure what made it work but I am able to log in and download/play games now.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. We need a little more information to make sure we provide the correct solution. Are you experiencing this error when you try signing in to the Xbox (beta) App or the Xbox Console Companion App? Do you get an
error message or error code when you sign in to your account on
the Xbox website? We recommend making sure that
Windows 10 is up to date. Be sure to let us know the results vvhitevvolf!

I sign in with email and old pass and it leads me to the new unwanted gamer tag. I try and sign in with my email and new password for my old gamer tag and it doesn't accept it.

If you have already signed up fro Game Pass Ultimate, then any new promotions will not valid. These promotions are designed and aimed at gamers who have not signed up for Game Pass Ultimate yet.
