    Can't sign into any Xbox related apps on windows


    I can sign into microsoft store and feedback hub, but the second I try to sign into the Xbox app, Xbox Game Bar, or Xbox Console Companion, it won't work. I get the 0x409 error on Console Companion and no error message anywhere else, it just shows the sign in screen for a split second before disappearing.
    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I have repaired/reset the apps many times, I have used the troubleshooter multiple times, I have restarted my computer multiple times, I have tried every single solution I have googled for the past 2+ hours straight and nothing has worked. I don't want to reset my computer for the third time since yesterday, so if there is any other possible solution please help.

    Hello AR_308, , have you checked if you have the latest version of Windows installed, at 21H2, because recently came out the latest update to Windows 10 and 11.

    Hi Ness, Are you only experiencing sign in issues with the game or the ladder where you can't sign in to the Xbox App or any other games? If it just that specific game giving you trouble then it could be a service related issue or other unknown factors specific
    to the game, I would recommend posting to the Gaming on Windows forums to alert the Devs/support team there about this issue. If the issue is happening at a broader level, please use the "report a problem" in the beta app and I will call this out to the Xbox
    App developers.

    Changing gamer tag

    You can't change a gamertag into a previously owned one but you could sign in to the Windows 10 Xbox app with the old one though.

    Thanks for providing the additional information. Are you able to sign into the Xbox app successfully? Have you looked over the guide for

    signing into the companion app    ? Have you used the account on an Xbox console or PC before to play Xbox games? May be doesn't have an Xbox profile related to it if you haven't.

    Look all that over and try signing in and let us know.
