Can't sign in to xbox 360 account despite using correct sign in information

New here so please forgive me if I break etiquette.

I'm having trouble signing in to my xbox 360 account. I have changed my password and been able to sign in to other Microsoft platforms with it so I know it's correct and working. I've spoken with a live agent who had me delete my account and format my xbox
to no avail. I'm being told that my password didn't work. Make sure my password is between 6 and 16 characters (it is) or use my app password if I've set up two-step verification. I've tried the authenticator app where available but that doesn't seem to work
either.

I'm currently stuck in isolation thanks to coronavirus so it would be great to gain access to my account so I can restore my purchases that I've lost through formatting.

I had this same issue and turning off 2 step verification fixed my issue. I was becoming very frustrated as i had tried everything, so thank you!!!!

Hello Richard,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. We understand that you are experiencing issues signing into your Xbox live profile on your Xbox 360. We suggest trying out the following steps:

*Please keep in mind that these changes to your account can be temporary, and are only being used to try and isolate the root cause of this issue. You can always revert back to how you had things set up.

1. Try
shortening your password to something below 12 characters, Try to log in to your console afterward

2. If the issue persists, Try
disabling 2-step verification entirely. Keep your password at the shortened length and then try logging in to your console

Aside from that, we are curious to know if you have other profiles on your 360 that are working fine. Please let us know the results!
