Can't Sign In A Second Controller as a Guest or Profile

I'm having a strange problem on my Xbox One when I try to sign in a second controller to play split screen as either a guest or on my second account. When I turn the second controller on, it just starts working with my main profile, so I have both pads doing the same thing. If I try to sign the second controller in as a guest or as my other profile, it will sign controller 1 out as well. So on games like Gears 5 or Forza 7 I cannot play split screen, because it thinks both controllers are on my main profile. But on games where you can just drop in and play, like Streets of Rage 4, it works fine.

They're both official Xbox controllers, I've also tried with an aftermarket pad for the same results, checked they aren't assigned to auto sign in, signed my main profile in and out and power cycled the console, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'll recommend you do a power cycle to clear the system cache

- Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.

- Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 2 minutes.

- Plug the console power cable back in. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on and check if it's all good.

If that doesn't help, I'll suggest you try doing a factory reset keeping games and apps on your console. This will refresh the console and remove all potential bugs without deleting any game data.

- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
- Select Reset console.
- Choose Keep Games and Apps

Once that is done, you'll need to sign into the console using your Microsoft account credentials. If the issue is with your console, that should fix it.

You need a second controller and bind it to a guest

However to get game saves you must have a profile assigned to the guest as only the primary would be able to save

Guest accounts are only secondary temporary profiles

This is why a real profile is needed to be lijnked

To a forza hub accounr

Guest profiles can only br played while the primary account must be signed in on a controller

And guest has to be on the second controller or first but only one profile can only be on one controller at a time

If you want not to be on the primary you MUST make an online account and be signed into forza hub

Still there. With a second controller signed in, simply press A while in a Player Match Lobby to bring up available profiles. You'll see the Guest profile at the bottom. Simply sign in as a guest, then press A to join the lobby.

Step 4 is saying to sign in with the primary profile, that has Xbox LIVE, launch Halo 4, and from the lobby you should be able to sign in your guest profile with a second controller.

Try making sure that the second controller has a profile loaded up on it or go to the sign in screen and 'add guest' this should resolve the issue.
