Can't set home xbox

Before I begin, if I am in the wrong place please redirect me to the right place.

So, me and my friend said that we would game share. I gave him my account and he set his home Xbox perfectly fine. Now, when I try to set his home Xbox to my console, it tells me "Can't make this your home Xbox. You can have one home Xbox vat a tine, and
switch between consoles up to three times a year." According to my friend, he has never changed his home Xbox, so if anyone has any solutions (preferably not ones that have me reset my Xbox) please let me know! Thanks!

Can't set home xbox

In December I upgraded from my day one Xbox One to the S, tried to set it as my home Xbox and haven't been able to do so... I haven't been able to set my home Xbox since I left the preview program in early 2015. And haven't set my home Xbox anywhere else.
Please help!

I can not set my Xbox as my profiles home xbox and I have 4 changes left. It keeps saying can't save changes

Because you sent me this list, I'm assuming you think I'm trying to manipulate the system, but if that is true, then why is it when I go to set home console, that it tells me "If you make this your home Xbox, people can play your downloaded games without
having to sign in as you"? Clearly Microsoft intended for sharing content like this to be possible and allowed. If this isn't what you are trying to tell me, please let me know, because I want to get this figured out.

 

and I have been allowed by the owner and buyer of the games to do so, so individual permission is not a problem.

 

It is for consoles that you OWN , not that other people own ...you have a console upstairs and one downstairs ...or one at your house and one at your parents house ...how could it be your "home" console if you don own it ? nowhere does it say its ok if
you have "permission"....

 

I see what you're saying, however, if i go to set my home console, it clearly states, "If you make this your home Xbox, people can play your downloaded games without having to sign in as you". It says people and it doesn't specifically say you can only do
it with your consoles. They don't make it vague either. They are clearly trying to get the point across that other people don't have to sign in as you to play your games. Clearly there are a lot of people out there who use this method, and obviously Microsoft
isn't trying to take them down. They are a massive company, so there is no way they didn't consider this when making the Xbox one. It just doesn't make sense when i hear, "No, it's for consoles you own" but on the actual Xbox, it says I can share them with
other people.

 

It is meant to be used so people can share content while they are using your console. People do use it to share outside of the home, but that is part of the reason why there is a 3 time a year limit. So people don't exploit the use of it. It's also recommended
to keep your console as your Home console incase sometime happens and you need to play offline. You won't have any access to your content if Live is down.

However, whether or not you have permission from the other person, it is still a violation of the code of conduct to share account credentials. So that does still put you at risk for being banned.

 

Well, now I won't set the other account to my home Xbox, but My account isn't at home, so i'm assuming i have to wait another year, but thank you for advising that i stay clear from this so i don't get banned in the future i guess. I just assumed it was
a Microsoft branded and allowed thing, since I guess they WERE being a bit vague, saying that you can share games with other people.

 

It's sort of been kind of a grey area in the case of the One because of the wording. It's basically the same thing has a license transfer on the 360 and people have been banned for using that to share games because it was considered marketplace theft.

 

The first time you sign in on an Xbox One and save your password, that console becomes your home Xbox. The My home Xbox setting allows you to do the following:

•Share games and downloadable content purchased from the Store with anyone else who signs in on your console. You can even share games downloaded as part of a subscription.

•Share your Xbox Gold subscription with anyone else who signs in on your console.

not really vague , you CAN share games with people that sign in on YOUR console , also your gold..... key word being YOUR console , not someone elses....

 

Can anyone help or can Microsoft help me please I have brought a new Xbox and now I can not play my games I have brought on my new one so I was wondering if anyone can help me I would really like tht

Since when have people been banned for using the License Transfer option to share games? Could you please provide a specific gamertag and the specific reason that stated that they were banned for this? As far as I'm aware, Microsoft doesn't care and has
never issued a suspension on accounts for game-sharing with friends.

To let someone else use the content license, you must download your Xbox Live profile to their Xbox 360 console. Then, transfer your content licenses to that Xbox 360 console. After you transfer your content, other profiles can use the content on
that console.
