    Can't send messages for last 3 months, would appreciate help


    I have contacted Xbox support twice about this issue and been assured that it would be taken care of within a week both times. Meanwhile, this issue has been ongoing for 3 months now.

    I cannot send messages. When I try to, it says "you cannot send messages because of past behavior." This happens both on xbox and on xbox.com. However, according to my enforcement history, I have a perfect enforcement record. I have tried many troubleshooting
    steps, including clearing my MAC, ensuring open NAT, and deleting and recreating my profile. None have worked. This is frustrating because I have been told that the issue would be dealt with, and there has been no follow-up. I use messaging often, and the
    feature is important to me. There is clearly some kind of bug in the system, where it thinks that I am banned, even though I am not. I would greatly appreciate if this could be resolved quickly.

    Xbox One Cant Send Messages

    Have not been able to send any messages either via text or voice for the last two months. I was banned for 1 day before all of this started but from Oct till now i have not been able to send any messages. I have spoken with xbox customer support and so far
    all our attempts to correct this matter have not worked. I have been a customer for 9 yrs and would really appreciate if some one could help me with this.

    Hey dreamvomit! Try updating your security proofs and see if that helps out. Steps can be found here. Sometimes removing them and re-adding them can confirm that you are valid user. Post back and let me know how it goes!

    Ok, I went and searched for how to update my security proofs... It does not let me remove my current security email because it says that I need to have at least one contact medium in case I can't get into my account. So I added a phone number and then deleted
    the email, which it let me do. This did not help. I am becoming increasingly frustrated with this issue, as it seems that nobody knows what is going on, and people continue to give me the same troubleshooting advice that is not thought through. The directions
    on the forum for updating the security proofs are not even accurate. No "security code prompt" appears, as it says it is supposed to when you follow the link.

    Again, the issue is that it says that I can't send messages due to "past behavior," even though I have a perfect enforcement record. This has been going on for 3 months with no remedy, despite the fact that I have been told multiple times that it would be
    fixed within the week. If you are able to come up with new instructions to help me, I would appreciate if they could be more detailed, instead of just having me search them out myself, especially when the directions provided on this site do not always seem
    to actually apply.

    Sincere apologies for any frustration. We definitely want to make sure this is sorted out! Mister Cizl gave me a heads up that you were able to send him an Xbox Live message letting him know you replied to this post. Are you able to send messages to others? Did
    you send that message through Xbox.com, our forums via the 'Message' link below our post, or the Xbox One console? You can check those through
    your Xbox Live message inbox on Xbox.com.

    If you were able to send Cizl a message, we may be getting somewhere, but I don't want to assume it's wrapped up. Try sending a different Xbox Live message to one of us and keep us posted here!

    Hi,

    No, I sent the message through the "message" button within the forums. I am still unable to send messages on xbox live through either the xbox or online. Again, the issue is that it thinks that I am banned, despite the fact that I have a perfect enforcement
    record. I had posted the reference number to a conversation I had with support, but it was deleted by the mod. However, I have detailed all of the troubleshooting steps I have already tried earlier in this thread.

    We won't make you go through the same steps! Some additional information we would like to have is have you tried the Xbox app on Android, Windows Phone, or iOS? Does the issue persist there? Could you let us know what region you're physically located in? That
    information will help us a bunch.

    The 'Message' icon under our posts is just a customized Xbox Live message box. Below is a screenshot of what I'm seeing to help clarify. Seeing this definitely makes this issue a little bit more odd. As you can see, the messages are coming through to my
    Xbox Live message inbox on Xbox.com:

    I sent a response through messages to Mister Boop, but I will also post here. As of now, it is still saying "an error occurred, try again later" when I try to enter the messages page. Then it still lets me click "new message" and press send, but then it
    says "an error occurred" again. Prior to today, it had just been saying that I can't send messages due to past behavior when I pressed send on a message. I have tried on the xbox itself, on xbox.com, and now I downloaded the app on iOS. On the iOS app, it
    will not let me even enter the messages page. It just stays in a constant state of loading. I live in New Jersey.

    Microsoft Account Reputation Check page and follow the steps to verify your phone number? I understand you tried that on our security proof page, but that's a separate page that may lead
    to different results.
