Can't register my Xbox Elite controller.

I'm trying to register my Xbox Elite controller that I received over the holidays and when I enter the serial number I get an error stating that the serial number is too long. How can this be?

As far as I know you can't register any controller I tried to register my elite controller but the serial number was the wrong length

How to replace xbox elite controller without console?

I've got "stick drift" problem with my xbox elite controller. Is there any way to replace or repair it? I can't register my controller on xbox support site without console. But i haven't xbox one, because of playing on PC..

I had the same issue, I called xbox support and they said that you cannot register accessories . you just need to keep your proof of purchase and raise a support case against your console if a problem with your elite controller arises

i also wish to register my elite controller but get the error.

xbox one registered ok but elite controller serial number too long so shows invalid.

Note to Kapnasty, that only works if you have an xbox one registered. Those of us using the elite controller on the PC don't have an xbox one registered, and therefore can't get to that option on the replace accessory sub form

You need to contact xbox support to help you set up a repair for elite controllers as you can't simply register them with serial number.
