ive been trying to redeem a code for xbox live now many times and each time I do it notices the code but then says there was an error and I should try waiting to help but ive waited and it still doesn't work. if anyone knows how to solve this problem can

part of your subscription, you won't be eligible for Games with Gold. If you used a prepaid code to sign up for Xbox Live Gold, make sure it was successfully redeemed.

I’ve not redeemed my Xbox live gold code yet though. So is there a way to check when I have no current active subscriptions?

Cause if I cant upgrade to Xbox Ultimate from live gold. I might as well buy Xbox ultimate 3 months from a third part at $30 ( so $10 per month)
