    Well OK did you buy the card out of region if so that would be why they are region specific

    UK or us cards will not work on an Hungarian account

    I bought it in Hungary ( media markt )

    All text on the card is hungarian and the currency is HUF

    But on the other side of the card says that from Ireland

    Which country do you live in? Code normally cannot be used outside of the country that they were originally intended for.

    How can I redeem the Microsoft Points gift cards now?
    If you go to that page you linked to, it says at the bottom:

    "We’ll continue to accept purchased Microsoft Points Cards and codes
    until further notice"

    [Emphasis by me]

    So if I remember correctly, it was announced at some time that Point codes had to be redeemed until March or April 2015, after which you can't redeem them anymore.

    So unfortunately, you can't redeem your point codes nowadays.

    How do I use Microsoft points to change my Xbox gamertag

    Depends on what you mean by Microsoft points. Microsoft points were discontinued in 2013 and they started to use a currency system.

    If you mean Reward points, you would need to redeem Xbox gift cards and redeem enough to cover the amount of the change.

    If you mean gamerscore, that has no monetary value and can't be used for purchases.
