Hello MatthewJY, when it says you couldn't recover your account, did you fill out the account recovery form, or are you just trying to access the account and couldn't receive the text message?

If you were unable to receive the text message, you can add a new one, but your account will be quarantined for 30 days for security information to be updated.

If you've really lost all access to your account, you'll have to try to recover through the account recovery form.

I tried doing the account recovery form but it says there’s supposedly not enough info to verify that I’m the owner. I don’t see why I can’t just get a code read to me by a tts bot over my landline phone that’s on my account.

Hello again, this is different, the system does not let you put the security number because you have not provided enough information to prove that the account is yours.

Ideally, try to fill out the form again and provide as much information as possible.

Hello again, Microsoft changed the way of recovering accounts years ago, you can contact Microsoft support via chat and ask to be referred to a Microsoft agent, who will do an "Account Takeover", however this procedure consists of the same questions that you filled out in the online form.

The agent will fill out the form based on the information you will provide, if you do not provide enough information, you will not be able to recover your account.

What I’m asking is why can’t we recover our accounts with a landline phone? Like I said, I created the account when landline phones were still very common so why take away that ability?
