Can't read disc error... (0x80820002)

Hi, Just got a X1 Day 1 second hand, has been looked after really well and is in mint condition. Getting the 0x80820002 error code when trying COD and Fifa 2014. Tried a hard reset with power cable out and holding power button down. No joy didn't work
at all... However, DracosMW instructions are spot on in forum msg titled: Can't read this disc errors... (0x80820002). Can get the disks to work everytime using this method. Seems to be some sort of physical hardware issue with the way the unit is pulling
the disks in. On the other hand I don't want to keep doing this to get my games to work. Can support tell us if we are entitled to an exchange? I have the original receipt too.

Xbox one Brand new....Battlefield4 brand new...Error code 0x80820002 just happened this AM have had this game and unit less then 24 hours!!!! This is BS.

 

Hold on to the disc for a couple seconds. You will feel the drive pull harder on the disc. Release the disc and you should here the x1 recognize the disc. Not sure why this works. I cycled, reset memory, the whole run around. This is what worked for me.

Yea total BS.... TrailerPark solution works but to be honest with you, why should we have to put up with it? Unit should be under warranty still so get it exchanged immediately.

 

Been getting that same issue. How does whole exchange thing work? It happens evry time even on a game fresh out the package

 

I phoned up to do mine and did the Advanced Exchange option. Under that scheme MS courier you out a replacement X1 and put a holding deposit of £420 against your bank card. The replacement will either be new or a refurnished unit. Chap I was on the phone
too couldn't tell which. I think we got a new unit. It took 3 working days to get my new unit. Once you have it. You have 14 days to return the dodgy one by courier (pre paid by MS, just attach pre-pay label to box replacement sent in). Was quite straightforward
to be honest with you. And said previously new unit works well.

The other exchange program takes about two weeks or so but you have to send your busted in unit first.

 

What is DrakosMW method? My Xbox is doing the same thing and I'll do ANYTHING to play BF4!!

 

When you put the disk in, you only do it half way. You have to wait about 1 - 2 seconds before letting go or letting the X1 suck it in. If you listen carefully there is a slight change in pitch of the drive motor. That's when to let go.

To be honest with you, just get the whole damn thing swapped. It should be under warranty still.

 

TrailerPark, thanks heaps for this solution. I have seen many forums that all have a theory about this but yours is the first that has actually worked consistently.

I contacted Microsoft about the advanced exchange, and it seems this cant be done in Australia. So, I will have to send the unit in and then wait for working one to turn up.

I will also have to do all of those downloads again which is painful.

I got the error several times and just now I did some different.

I don't push the disc, i put the disc and just push the button and the X1 star reading the blueray!!!

 

Oh my God, you people are a lifesaver. The hold it for a second thing works perfectly. I'm still going to send it in at some point before the warranty is up, but this way I can wait until we get my son a Wii U for Christmas so I have something to play while
I wait a month lol.
