    Can't Purchase Using Account Balance?


    First, I redeemed a couple $25 card codes and correctly received a $50 balance on my account. I used it to buy a couple things using the marketplace via my xbox 360 console. Everything was fine, and now I have a $15.01 balance remaining.

    Now I want to buy The Orange Box, it's even on sale for $5 right now! Problem is, I can't find the game using the console, I can only seem to find it here on the website store. However, if I attempt to download to xbox from the website, when I click on
    the game it says I have no valid payment options, my only option available is to "change payment options," which then asks me to add a new credit card.

    I don't want to add a credit card, I want to use the $15 already in my account to buy the game.

    How can I do this? What am I doing wrong? Please help.

    Not a question, just venting - My kids keep spending my money so I had to cancel my auto renewal and remove all forms of payment.

    If the account he's using is a child account then you can restrict purchases, if it's an adult account you can't.

    Family member can't purchase Avatar

    My Son is a family member on my Xbox. He can't purchase FREE avatars even though I can. He has credit in his account but it states his account can't purchase this on xbox.com and to use his xbox. We are using the xbox! Any ideas??

    Sorry for double post, mod can delete this if desired. I was finally able to find the game using the xbox console (search is worthless btw). Purchased using console, downloading now.

    Still, I would appreciate any help on buying online via pc using account balance funds.

    The website has never been updated to use the currency system to make purchases for 360 content. You can use it for One content, but you do have to use the console in order to make purchases using currency for the 360.

    Thank you Smwutches for the reply, though I think it's kind of a rip if you can't use the website for 360 purchases. I doubt this'll be fixed since One is obviously going to be the primary system MS plans to fully support going forward, but I still hope
    a fix does happen in the future.

    Anyway, thanks again for the reply!

    Yes, I was trying to make the purchase on the website. How am I supposed to know that I can't use my MS account balance on the website? Not everyone stalks the forums before making a purchase!

    The website was more than happy to accept the prepaid code!

    If I can't make purchases on the website with my MS account balance, it should

    #1 - clearly state that I can't use MS account balance to pay for purchases via website

    AND

    #2 - it shouldn't accept the prepaid card code on the website!

    Now how do I use the MS account balance?

    I want to use my Microsoft account balance to pay for something, but I don't see it listed as a payment option.

    You can't use the money in your Microsoft account to purchase content from the Xbox 360 Marketplace.

    To resolve this issue, purchase the item on your Xbox 360 console, where you can use your Microsoft account balance to make purchases.

    It's true. You can't use funds from a gift card (which is what the Microsoft account balance is) to purchase a gift card.

    Suspended for expired debit card

    When your account is suspended, it means they have tried charging your account and can't, so you now have a balance you owe. You will have to add another credit card to pay off the balance before you can use a prepaid card. Currency in your account can only
    be used to purchase content in the marketplace. It can't be used on a gold subscripiton.
